| In all the years that I
have been in business for myself, I have seen real growth
when my competition gets upset with the success that I am
constantly enduring and they feel that if they can discredit
me or my businesses in one way or another that the tables
will turn and they will start to see an increase in their
revenue. While their revenue does in
fact increase but it is only temporary because when people
find out that the rumors being spread around is actually
false, my competition looses credibility and soon my
customers return when they are ready to make another
purchase.
In fact I have received many new customers
that didn't even know I was in business because of the
negative rumors.
I believe in being honest with others and
I often tell others that nothing is perfect in this world
but I do everything in my power to strive for perfection and
on occasion I do fail to meet a quota, or produce a inferior
item, provide inadequate service or miss a dead line. When
these things happen I feel real bad about it and I do
everything that I can to rectify it. I guess the college
professors would call it ethics.
Simply put I make it right even if it is
at a loss.
My point is don't worry about the
competition so much that you resort to spreading negative
rumors to make them appear inferior, even if they are true,
the consumer will choose who they like to do business with
regardless of what anyone says about one company or another.
Not only does spreading negative rumors make you look un
professional you can get sued for doing it.
I started my first successful business
1985 and have been working for myself for 20+ years. To this
day as much as it would make me feel better, I still do not talk negatively about my competitors.
I hope that this has helped
