Don't Make This Mistake
I get a lot of emails. Some tell me how much they love the system and
others tell me they just don't get it.
When this happens it is easily fixed by directing them to right
training or pointing out something that they have missed.
However I also get emails with complaints
about the lack of support or responsiveness from someone that
referred them to they system.
Now ... if you are the kind of person that
communicates with your team, provides tips, insights, staying in
touch, and encouraging your team... good for you! That's what great
leaders do!
But far to often this very REAL scenario takes place - The names
have been changed to protect their privacy:
Tom was referred by Greg.
Tom sent me an email stating that Greg never replies to his emails.
According to him, Greg has made promises the he didn't deliver on
and when he emails Greg to ask a question, he does not respond and now
Tom wants to cancel his account.
Tom feels betrayed by Greg and does
not want to continue to support him in any way.
Unfortunately, this story is too common.
And here is the really sad part:
Greg contacts me a few minutes after Tom did and wants to know why
his people are canceling their accounts!
I asked Greg how often does he communicate with his team. I asked
him how often does he participate in a Discussion Forum to share his own
experiences or provide support to his team.
His answer: He doesn't have time.
Amazing. Sad. But true. Greg says he doesn't have time to support
his team AND he wants to know why they are canceling their accounts.
Business relies heavily on relationships. Successful leaders are
good at communicating with, encouraging, and supporting the people
around them.
If you are currently acting like "Greg", it's time to realize
something: Your success is directly related to the success of your
team! If you've spent any time reading personal development
information, you've probably come across the phrase, "If you help
enough people get what they want, you will get what you want.".
There is a lot of truth to that statement.
Don't be like Greg. Make a point of communicating with your
organization. Even if it's just to say "hello" and let them know how
you are doing with your own business, let them know you are:
a real human being.
available.
learning just like they are.
Your success depends on it! (No matter what business you are in).
